Tort - Ontario Policy Change form 48 (OPCF48)
As of September 1, 2010 - this is a new coverage:
A policy with no OPCF 48 will be subject to a $ 30,000 deductible when the awarded payment is less or equal to $ 100,000. Family Law Act awards will be subject to $ 15,000 deductible for awards less than or equal to $50,000.
A policy with OPCF 48 will be subject to a $ 20,000 deductible when the awarded payment is less or equal to $ 100,000. Family Law Act awards will be subject to $ 10,000 deductible for awards less than or equal to $50,000.
Things to Know
• This is a standalone coverage that is not dependent on another coverage being present and therefore could remain on an automobile that had, for example, Comprehensive only. Therefore if you delete road coverage from your vehicle you should consider leaving this coverage in place.

It is also a portable coverage, which means an
insured person has access to this coverage when they are an occupant
in a non owned automobile or when they are a pedestrian and are
injured.
This coverage is strongly recommended.
